If you’re looking for things to do while on lockdown, a project or two in your garden may be exactly what you need!
1. TIDY PATHS AND PATIOS
During the winter, you may have had fallen leaves and debris. Now the dryer weather is starting to set in, it’s a great time to hose down those paths and paving and get them sparkling ready for the summer BBQs!
2. CHECK AND REPAIR GARDEN STRUCTURES
After the high winds and heavy rainfall of winter, it’s worth checking damage to your greenhouse, trellises, pergolas
and fencing. Now is a great time to carry out any maintenance work that may be required. Keep an eye out for any decaying timber or pest infestations which you can either replace or treat it.
3. TIDY PONDS AND WATER FEATURES
Have you given your pond a good clean since winter? Fallen leaves and debris from the harsher weather will begin to have an adverse effect on your pond if left for too long. If your pond is beginning to look murky, this is a great time to give it a good clean and provide some much needed maintenance.
4. CONSIDER THE WILDLIFE THAT USES YOUR GARDEN
With spring in the air, nesting birds are looking for food for their babies as well as themselves. Why not consider creating a haven for them in your garden to make this easier? Leave out feeders and water baths for easy food and drink.
You could also do your bit for butterflies and bees by creating a wildflower meadow. You can buy kits with bee and butterfly friendly flowers that are easy to grow.
5. LAWN CARE
Spring is the perfect time for mowing the lawn. In actual fact it should be done regularly! Don’t forget it’s also important to feed your lawn. A good feed will not only make your lawn greener, but it will make it grow thicker, increasing its strength and health.
